The Divine Mercy Centre, Habsiguda, Secunderabad is run by the Society of the Holy Spirit. It is a ministry focused on the renewal of love and commitment to God and His people through Proclamation, Healing, Deliverance, Counselling, Retreats etc. The ministry has been working actively in carrying out the word of God by creating prayer groups in every village and also providing a copy of the Bible to every family. The Society lives by the motto “By the Word, Anoint the World”, proclaiming the spirituality “May the Heart of Jesus live in the hearts of all”. Fr Christuraj James, the Founder of the Society of the Holy Spirit: He was ordained Priest for the society of the Divine Word (SVD) in 1990. His love for preaching the Word of God, continues to transform many lives, his inital work at Toopran, Sangareddy of Arch Diocese of Hyderabad inspired him to start the Divine Word Centre at Muthangi in 1994. Following our Lord’s plan he established the Divine Mercy Centre, Habsiguda, a Home for Poor Children at Muthangi and a HIV/AIDS Children’s home namely Rakshana Deepam at Moinabad in the year 1996. He worked as the Dean of Sangareddy during the years 1998-2008. Such began the work of our Lord, on 11th April 2010, with the erection of the Society of the Holy Spirit. It was approved by the Most Rev Thumma Bala D D, the Archbishop of Hyderabad. After 5 years, the ministry was canonically erected by the Most Rev Govindu Joji D D, Bishop of Nalgonda on 10th April 2015 who is also the patron of the Society of the Holy Spirit. St Paul, the Missionary Apostle is the heavenly patron saint of the Divine Mercy Centre, Habsiguda . Many of his writings are contained in the Canon of the Bible and have influenced the growth and development of the Church since the first century.

The Divine Mercy Chapel

The chapel, featuring the Divine Mercy image of Christ with rays of red and white light, is the devotional centre of the retreat. The 3 PM Chaplet is prayed here daily — a simple, repetitive prayer that can be prayed by anyone regardless of prior religious experience.

The Divine Mercy Image

The Divine Mercy image — Christ in white robes with two rays of light (red and white) emanating from his heart, the inscription Jesus, I trust in you beneath — is present throughout the centre. The image is simple, modern (painted in 1934 under St Faustina's direction), and extremely direct in its message: here is Jesus. Trust him. That is the entire spiritual programme.

The evening sessions of sharing — where retreat participants share their experiences, prayers answered, and moments of encounter during the retreat — are often described as among the most moving parts of the retreat experience. Jesus, I trust in you. Five words. St Faustina received this phrase and the image to go with it in 1930s Poland, in a world that was about to undergo one of the worst catastrophes in human history. She wrote in her diary: I saw the Lord Jesus clothed in a white garment. One hand raised in blessing, the other touching the garment at the breast. From beneath the garment came two large rays, one red, one pale. Two rays representing the blood and water that flowed from the Heart of Jesus when pierced by the lance on the cross. In the most terrible century in human history, God said: trust me. That is still the message.

A Pilgrim's Prayer

Jesus, I trust in you. I say it as a practice rather than a feeling — because trust is built through repetition, not through waiting until I feel trusting. Every time I say it, let it go a little deeper. And when the morning comes when I say it and discover I mean it — let that be the beginning of a new day. Amen.

The Founder

Fr Christuraj James is the founder of the Society of the Holy Spirit. He was ordained priest for the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) in 1990. His love for preaching the Word of God continues to transform many lives. His initial work at Toopran, Sangareddy, of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad inspired him to start the Divine Word Centre at Muthangi in 1994. Following our Lord’s plan, he established the Divine Mercy Centre, Habsiguda, a home for poor children at Muthangi, and an HIV/AIDS children’s home, namely Rakshana Deepam, at Moinabad, in the year 1996. He worked as the Dean of Sangareddy during the years 1998–2008.

The Society
